FORT COLLINS, Colo., April 22, 2026 — Dan Muffly, who recently retired as a partner from the well-regarded Northern Colorado law firm Johnson Dauster & Thorson, has been honored with the Annual Larimer County Bar Association Professionalism Award. They must demonstrate positive involvement in the legal profession, are courteous and prompt in conducting business, performs pro bono public service in the community, are committed to improving the legal profession and when representing clients renders advice which considers not only the law but other considerations such as moral, economic, social and political factors relevant to the situation, Recipients are selected by their peers. Muffly’s award of this honor underscores the profound respect he has earned from fellow practitioners and judges.
During his long tenure at Johnson Dauster & Thorson and earlier with Harden Hass Haag & Hallberg, Muffly established a reputation as a leader of the local legal community. He approached every case with a deep respect for the rule of law and a genuine dedication to his clients. Beyond his individual casework, he served as a trusted mentor to younger attorneys, instilling the same values of ethical advocacy and professional courtesy that defined his own practice. He also served on numerous non-profit boards and taught many employment law seminars in the area. He served on the Larimer County Bar Association’s Executive Board, was the President of that Board, was on the Colorado Board of Governors and was a member of its Executive Board and is a Bar Fellow of the Colorado Bar Association.
